| By LEONARD CHEASBRO, New Life in Christ Church Galatians 3:2-14 Paul was talking to the Galatians about their faith. V2: Paul asked: Did you receive the spirit by works of the law or by the hearing of faith? Works won’t get the job done. We must have faith in God and not doubt. We can do a lot of good works, but without faith the works are in vain. V3: Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? We have to lead by the spirit not by the flesh. The flesh gets us into trouble every time. However the spirit gives us direction and will show us what we should do and what we should say. When we live by the spirit and have faith we can do all things in Christ Jesus. Nothing is impossible when we believe. V5: Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Jesus did many miracles in his ministry. He healed people, he forgave people and he turned water into wine. He made the blind see and many more miracles did Jesus do. All that Jesus did, he did in faith. So therefore all that we do also must be in faith. V6: Just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness,” it says Abraham followed God. He believed in God and he had faith in God. What do we put our faith in? Things? Money? When we put our faith in anything but God, our faith is in vain. V7: Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. So if we are of faith, we are the children of Abraham. We will receive the blessing that Abraham received. In order to be blessed we must believe or have faith in God. V9: Again it says, so then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. I sure want the blessings of the Lord and he wants to bless us. V11: But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” Did it say that the just shall live by money or possessions? No. A hundred times no. The just shall live by FAITH. It is not wrong to have money or possessions as long as we put God first in our lives. V12: Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them. v24: Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. v25: But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. Do we then do away with the Law? God forbid. We do not do away with the law. It was our tutor to bring us to Jesus Christ. We are no longer under the law. But we are under grace now — since Jesus came. V26: For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. It says by FAITH. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. That verse says that without faith, it is impossible to please God. We surely want to please God. Sometimes we have to stop and take inventory of our walk with God and see how our faith is. Do you have faith in Jesus Christ? Is he in your heart? If you don’t know Jesus, you can. It is easy. Just ask him to forgive you of your sins and he will. Accept him as your savior and have faith in him. God bless you. | |
