Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary awards scholarships

The Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has awarded seven scholarships totaling $4,750 for the 2008-2009 school year.

The recipients, their schools and career choices include:

• Marianne Boeh, Metropolitan State University, Minn., wound ostomy nursing.

• Debra Donoghue, Webster University, masters of science with educator focus.

• Scott Driver, University of Missouri at Kansas City, dentistry.

• Jill Fredricks, Washburn University, nursing.

• Roger Lawrence, Ottawa University, health care management.

• Matthew Waldron, University of Kansas School of Medicine, medical doctor.

• Samantha Wilson, Fort Hays State University, radiological technology.

The auxiliary has awarded 209 scholarships for a grand total of $124,500, since the auxiliary began giving scholarships in 1973.  

The qualifications for the scholarship include that the student be a resident of Franklin County, and/or employee of Ransom Memorial Hospital, be enrolled or accepted in a health-related program which is offered by an accredited institution and have a grade point average of 3.00 or above.
