With the exception of a few city council races, many of Tuesday’s election winners will be write-ins, uncontested or will be winners who faced little opposition.

A lack of candidates will leave some positions on the Lane, Princeton and Rantoul city councils and the Lane mayoral position up to write-in votes.

The Pomona and Wellsville city councils and Ottawa city commission and school board will be the most contested races in Tuesday’s election.

Two candidates will vie for Pomona mayor, while five candidates will compete for only two council positions. Six candidates will face off for three Ottawa City Commission positions, and five candidates are eyeing three spots on the Wellsville City Council.

Six candidates, including two incumbents, will compete for three positions on the Ottawa School Board.
