MORAN — Neither hail nor biting cold could stay the rounds of the West Franklin golf team.

The Falcons carded their best score of the year in the interrupted Marmaton Valley Invitational at Moran’s Sunny Meadows course Friday.

The Falcon golfers, paced by Cody Campfield, scored 387, their best low score. Campfield ended with 80, good for second.

It took two days to finish the meet, when began with nine teams. It started — and bogied — Monday.

“They got about four rounds in when it started hailing on them,” West Franklin coach Chris Hassler said. “When we went back, only six teams showed up.”

In addition to Campfield, Cord Cunningham scored 93, Steven Slavens 103, Ray Harms 111, and Casey Gillmore 113.

“It was the best low for Cord and Steven,” Hassler said. “It was nice to see them improving their scores.”

The Falcons will play host with their own West Franklin Invitational beginning at 1 p.m. Monday at the Lamont Hill Golf Course, Vassar.
