OU men’s golf takes fifth in KCAC

GARDEN CITY — The Ottawa University men’s golf team finished fifth at the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament Monday and Tuesday  at the Buffalo Dunes Golf Club in Garden City. Ottawa shot a three-round total of 983.

“We had a tough season. We did not accomplish our goals as a team,” Ottawa coach Wendell Smith said. “Hopefully we can build on the experience of this year and be very motivated over the summer to prepare for a better year next year.”

Zach Bader finished 15th overall with a 234 and was the 19th-ranked golfer in the conference for the season. Zach Kastelic was 20th in the conference for the season and had a 246 in the KCAC tourney.

“Golf is a great sport because it is one of the truest tests of a person’s character, integrity, confidence, and competitiveness,” Smith said. “If our teams continue to learn to play smart, gain confidence, and continue to develop emotional stability, there are no limits to what we can accomplish.”
