OU softball to play in winner’s bracket today

LINDSBORG — The Ottawa University softball team will play Friends University 10 a.m. today in a winner’s bracket game of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference postseason tournament in Lindsborg.

On Friday, Ottawa advanced with wins over Kansas Wesleyan (5-1) and Bethany (3-1).

The winner advances to the championship contest. It is a double-elimination format.

Against Wesleyan, Ottawa jumped on top early as Josie Hildebrand had an RBI single in the first inning.

Ottawa scored two more in the bottom of the second off of hits from Korey Higbie and Erin Michael, taking a 3-0 lead.

OU scored one more in the third off of a sacrifice fly by Samantha Skinner and led 5-0 in the fourth on Michael’s RBI single.
