Citizen Scholar: CARRIE SHIRK, Wellsville High School

Carrie Shirk said she believes every person has a chance to make someone’s life better.

“Acknowledging someone who everyone walks right past without noticing can brighten their day and make them feel so much better about themselves,” she said.

Shirk is a member of the Wellsville school dance team and St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Olathe. She has been a mentor with Eagle Lift Off.  She also has been active in Future Business Leaders of America, KAYS, National Honor Society, Student Council, volleyball, track, basketball and choir.

She also worked for the Wellsville City Pool.

She plans to attend Missouri State University-Springfield.

She is the daughter of Steve and Denita Shirk, Wellsville.
