Several Garfield Elementary School fifth grade students recently completed the Health Adventures Program sponsored by the Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Students who participated include: Abigail Kelley, Nancy Kuczmarski, Jaina Mills, Mollie Brown, Payton Weidner, Pery Harrod, Tatum Knight, Naleen Patel, Trey Rich, Courtney Houston and Adrian Conroy. The program is designed to provide the kids with a special opportunity to learn more about health care professions, the working of a hospital, potential job skills and volunteerism. Each student was paired with a volunteer mentor. Students attended sessions once a month for four months beginning in January. Departments they learned about include: radiology, lab, Gollier Rehabilitation Center, respiratory therapy, ambulance service and emergency room. At the end of the program the students were awarded a certificate of completion and a box of “glow in the dark” bones to assemble. | |
