| By JENALEA MYERS, Herald Staff Writer It was a busy Memorial Day weekend for Pomona and Melvern lakes, the lakes’ operations manager said. “Both projects went pretty well,” David Green, the manager, said. High water levels required some sites to be closed, including about 15 at Pomona and about 20 at Melvern, he said. “The water being a bit high changed some use patterns,” Green said. “With not having as many sites open, some people were moved to a few different sites.” Lake goers experienced some showers Friday night and this morning. “Saturday was just beautiful,” Green said. Green said the lakes experienced no major problems. The holiday brought a fairly quiet weekend for the Ottawa Police Department and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, reports show. An arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence Thursday kicked off the holiday weekend for the sheriff’s office, followed by another suspicion of DUI arrest Friday night. Police reports show one alcohol-related incident early Saturday morning. An arrest on suspicion of transporting an open container was made at the intersection of K-68 and Eisenhower Road.
