OU athletes among best in NAIA track

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Two Ottawa University men’s track athletes were among the best in the nation at the NAIA level.

Ottawa senior Kyle Gorton finished 11th in the javelin at the NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a toss of 176 feet. It was his second national appearance.

Ottawa junior Justin Garrard finished 20th in the marathon at 2 hours, 40 minutes. It was also his second national appearance.

Ottawa had eight track and field student athletes earn Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete honors. They were Sarah Blecha, Laura Jeannin, Ashley Solomon, Erin Tanking, Garrard, Devin Scott, Shawn Stottlemire and Bryant Derley.
