OU's Cordell named NAIA All-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ottawa University senior baseball player Eric Cordell has been named honorable mention NAIA All-American.

The Braves ace pitcher finished at 8-5, 2.33 ERA, four shutouts, 107 strikeouts and for 34 straight innings during the season he did not allow an earned run.

His 107 strikeouts are a single-season school record. Opponents batted .248 against Cordell and he only gave up 26 earned runs for the season. He was also named for three straight weeks the conference pitcher of the week and earned pitcher of the year.

Cordell is OU’s career leader in appearances (67), innings pitched (266) and strikeouts (233).

He signed a professional contract with the River City Rascals of the Independent Frontier League. The Rascals play in the Western division.
