• The city of Ottawa will begin soon paying a higher rate for the gas it purchases for the Gas Service Company for operation of the water and light plant. It was announced at the meeting of the city commissioners last night. The commissioners stated that the increase in fuel cost to the city will result in an increase in electric rates for consumers in Ottawa, but not immediately.
• STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) — Within 10 years parents will be able to decide for themselves whether they will have boy or girl babies, says a Swedish geneticist. Prof. Per Eric Lindahl, speaking at Uppsala Institute of Physiology, said there are several methods of determining sex “but so far none of them has proved entirely dependable.”
