Larry G. Fort, 67, of Edgerton, born Dec. 29, 1941, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Olathe Medical Center. He was born in Ottawa to George and Evelyn (Seck) Fort. He was raised in Paola where he attended Holy Trinity grade school and Paola High School, graduating in 1959. He worked for Phillips Pipeline until 1968, then went to work for KCPL where he worked as a lineman until his retirment in 2005. He married Shirley Atterbery June 15, 1963, in Paola. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Atterbery) Fort, and three children, a son, Raymond, and wife, Nikki, of Pueblo, Colo.; daughter Teresa and husband, Robert Chancellor, of Spring Hill; and daughter Jenny and husband, Keith Klamm, of Wellsville; three grandsons and four granddaughters — the joy of his life; his mother, Evelyn Fort, of Paola; two sisters, Nancy Burton, of Mound City, Dee Ann Baker, of Overland Park; and a brother, Jay Fort, of Shawnee. He was preceded in death by his father, George Fort. Larry was a big University of Kansas and Wellsville High School sports fan. He enjoyed golf and his many friends and spending time with his grandkids. Rosay will be 6 p.m. Thursday with visitation to follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Paola. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Paola. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Wellsville Athletic Department or the American Heart Association. | |
