| By JENALEA MYERS, Herald Staff Writer Vendors made sure this week’s Second Street Market was more successful than last week’s. Sponsored by the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce’s retail committee, 10 vendors showed up for the market this week, retail committee member Shawn Turner said. “We had a variety of vendors,” he said. “We had a lot of unique hand-made products, too.” Last week was the first Second Street market, and while many customers showed up ready to buy, the market drew no vendors. Turner said about the same number of customers came this week, but they were more spread out through the time slot. Committee chairwoman Kathy Niehoff said she heard a lot of positive feedback from both the customers and the vendors. “We’re planning on doing it as long as people want to do it,” she said. The market runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday on Second Street from Main Street east. Booth set-up begins at 3:30 p.m. There’s a $5 charge, and vendors must register each Thursday at the market. Items must be home-grown or homemade. | |
