White Sox, Cubs post Minor League victories

In Ottawa Cal Ripken Minor League games Monday, the White Sox defeated the Phillies, 8-4, and the Cubs downed the Braves, 9-4.

White Sox 8, Phillies 4

Brock Huddlestun was the winning pitcher for the White Sox. He tossed a five-inning no-hitter. He had 12

Bryce Spielman pitched three innings with seven strikeouts and Byron Fangman pitched two innings with three strikeouts for the Phillies.

The White Sox offense was paced by Kody Hill with two hits and an RBI. Payton Schaefer and Zach Curry had a hit and an RBI each.

Huddlestun had a hit and three RBI. Blaine Ray a hit.

For the Phillies, runs were scored by Spielman (2) and Dalton Welsh (1) and Chandler Bloomer (1).

Good defensive plays by the White Sox were turned in by Huddlestun and Zach Kerns and for the Phillies, Fangman, Andrew Soderberg and Spielman.

Cubs 9, Braves 4

The Cubs scored five runs in the third inning to snap a 4-4 tie.

Anthony Geist and Jackson McCally had hits for the Cubs. Zane Muhl tossed three-hitter for the Cubs. He finsihed with eight strikeouts in four innings.

The Phillies were led by Thomas Nowatzke, Koby Becker and Stefan Foulke with a hit apiece. Joey Bellinger pitched three innings had had five strikeouts.
