| Special to The Herald The Ottawa Business and Professional Women installed new officers for 2009-10 at the regular meeting June 16. Helen Norman, Kansas Business and Professional Women president, performed the installation service. Christina Rush, who works as RN, SANE-A, SANE/SART coordinator at Ransom Memorial Hospital, will serve as president. “Since 1922, OBPW has been working for all women in the workplace and at home through advocacy, education and information. OBPW will continue to the address issues of concern to working women in our community, including domestic violence, safety, and equal pay,” Rush said. “We will be hosting several events throughout the year to raise awareness of these issues, provide networking opportunities and career development programs,” she added. Other officers include Karen Marconette, owner of Hiatt Heating & Cooling, president-elect; September Truelove, stylist, vice president; Laura Miller, registrar, Franklin County Historical Society, treasurer; and Barb Gibson, administrative assistant and assistant regional director at Community Learning Centers of Southeast Kansas Education Service Center, recording secretary. Ottawa Business and Professional Women meets at 6:30 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at the Courthouse Square Apartments, Third and Main streets, Ottawa.
