Paintball shooting splatters mystery

Nothing was stolen.

There was no forced entry.

And Franklin County Undersheriff Steve Lunger said he’s never seen anything quite like it.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s office responded to a report Tuesday morning that a residence in the 3600 block of Sand Creek Road had been broken into and possible shots were fired.

The shots — which struck at least two people — came from a paint ball gun.

Lunger said the victims suffered only minor injuries from the incident that probably involves multiple people.

“It looks like there was more than one person that entered the residence without permission,” he said.

There were no signs of a forced entry, and the victims said they weren’t sure who shot them with paint balls.

Lunger said the sheriff’s office continues to search for the suspects involved in the case but is unsure of the motivation as nothing appears to have been taken from the residence.

Lunger added that he’s not aware of any reports of similar incidents in the Franklin County area.

“This is the first case that I’m aware of that somebody shot someone with a paint ball gun,” he said.
