Everett L. Gragg, age 82, of Ottawa, Kan., passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009, at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kan. He was born March 21, 1927, at Quenemo, Kan., the son of Robert and Edna (Brooks) Gragg. He attended schools at Quenemo and Ottawa, Kan.

Everett worked for Bennett’s Creamery in Ottawa before he married Vivian V. Griffin in 1952. They had 32 years of marriage before divorcing in 1985. In 1950, Everett joined Kansas City Power and Light Company working out of Paola and later out of Ottawa, Kan. He was a lead utility operator for nearly 40 years before his retirement in 1989.

He enjoyed fishing, playing pool and having coffee with his buddies in the morning.

Everett is survived by four sons, Darrell Gragg, and his wife, Lois, of Ankeny, Iowa, Keith Gragg, of Fredonia, Kan., Dennis Gragg, and his wife, Marilyn, of Ottawa, Kan., and Curtis Gragg, of Ottawa, Kan.; and their mother, Vivian Gragg, of Ottawa, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and significant other, Sara Gobea, of Ottawa, Kan.

Mr. Gragg was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Lloyd Gragg, Robert Gragg Jr., Clarence Gragg, Raymond Gragg, Benny Gragg, J.D. Gragg and Bernard Dale Gragg, infant. He had three sisters, Florence Bowen, Naomi Fagan and Cecil Cowdin and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory St., Ottawa, Kan. Friends paid respects after 8 a.m. Monday until the time of service. Cremation of the body followed. Private family inurnment will be at the Quenemo Cemetery, Quenemo, Kan., at a later date.
