Ray tosses no-hitter for White Sox

The White Sox defeated the Indians, 8-1, Thursday in the final Ottawa Cal Ripken Minor League game of the 2009 season.  

Blaine Ray was the winning pitcher for the White Sox.

He pitched a complete game no-hitter with 15 strikeouts. It was the second straight no-hit performance by a White Sox pitcher.

Luke Snider pitched three innings for the Indians and had five strikeouts. Brock Reed went two innings and had three strikeouts.

Drew Nutt scored the run for the Indians.

The White Sox top hitters were: Zach Kerns, a hit and two runs scored; Derrick Love, two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored; Brock Huddlestrun, a hit, RBI and a run scored; Kody Hill, a hit, RBI and a run scored, and Matthew Rodina, a hit and a run scored.

Good defensive plays were turned in by Snider for the Indians and Kerns for the White Sox.

The Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth tournament trail begins for the various all-star teams.
