Jeff Shumate swears his intention was more benign than the name suggests.

Shumate has opened Dangerous Toys, 124 W. Second St., Ottawa, a place for sales, parts and repairs of small engines, lawn and garden equipment.

He was a former long-time manager of the lawn and garden repair center at Orscheln’s Farm and Home Supply, but decided he wanted to run his own small-engine shop.

“I’ve been doing this since I was this tall,” Shumate said as he marked an invisible line just below his hip.

Dangerous Toys is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
