The owner of the Ottawa Sirloin Stockade, 2230 S. Princeton, has been named to the Kansas Restaurant and Hospitality Association’s Hall of Fame. Gale Premer was honored during a recent ceremony in Wichita. Besides the Ottawa Sirloin Stockade, Premer owns 16 Montana Mike’s, Sirloin Stockade and Coyote Canyon restaurants in Kansas. Every year, KRHA recognizes members of the organization who support for its mission and the hospitality industry and community. A member since 1975, Premer has served as chairman of the KRHA board and has received the Silver Spoon award for outstanding membership sales and promotion and was named KRHA Restaurateur of the Year in 1986. He also works closely with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to explain how regulations and state food codes impact Kansas facilities. “It’s a great feeling to get recognized for something I feel as strongly about as hospitality in my restaurants,” Premer said. “I’ve become a very involved part of the community and use my businesses to set examples for others. “I know what my customers like, and I love serving them.” Stockade Companies LLC started as a single Sirloin Stockade in Oklahoma City in 1966. Premer formed Stockade Companies, a multi-concept chain with franchises in 13 states under the names Montana Mike’s, Sirloin Stockade and Coyote Canyon, in 1984. He has served as president, CEO and chairman of the board until 2004 when the company was sold. | |
