DALE LEROY ‘BUD’ BURGOON

WELLSVILLE — Dale Leroy “Bud” Burgoon, age 63, Wellsville, passed away Wednesday evening, July 16, 2008, in Ottawa.

A memorial visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson’s Funeral Home, Wellsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bud Burgoon Memorial Fund in care of Wilson’s, P.O. Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.

Dale Leroy “Bud” Burgoon was born Oct. 9, 1944, in Paola, Kan., the son of Dale C. and Thelma J. (Evans) Burgoon. He grew up in Wellsville and graduated from Wellsville High School in 1962.

Bud married Kathy Pence in 1966 in Ottawa. They later divorced.

Bud had been in Wellsville most of his life and was currently employed by Central Fiber, where he worked as a rolling stock mechanic for the past 20 years. He also ran his own filling station and the Conoco station in Ottawa for many years. He had worked for Kay Electronics out of the Olathe area in the 1970s and as a young man, worked for Dempsey Crop-Dusting out of Rantoul.

Bud was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and playing horseshoes and was adored by his many extended family members and friends who he loved dearly.

Bud will be dearly missed by all who held him in high regard as a father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Bud is survived by his son, Scott Burgoon of Merriam, daughter and son-in-law, Amy and James Winsky of Ottawa; sisters, Glenna Orwig of Lawrence, Janet Neal of Branson, Mo., Sharal Newland of Richmond, and Pam Mignot of Wellsville; six grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant niece, Kristen Sleichter (1982).
