| By The Herald Staff LA CYGNE — Central Heights head coach Mike Swendson was pleased with the game Friday night. Central Heights defeated Prairie View, 26-8. “It all finally came together and gelled,” Swendson said. “They got out there and did the things we worked on all week. I was really pleased with the effort.” The Vikings were led by Dalton Schwab with 269 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Swendson also was pleased with the effort of the defense. “I was happy with how it went and the execution of the line,” he said. “The defense stepped up, and there were some other kids that stepped up. I even had some freshmen step up.” The Vikings will play Friday at home against Osawatomie. “We just have to work hard,” Swendson said. “They’re good and it’s going to take a lot of hard work to prepare for that game. They’ll all have to step up for next week.”
OSAWATOMIE 42, WELLSVILLE 34OSAWATOMIE — A double overtime wasn’t enough to pull a win for Wellsville.After the second overtime, Osawatomie defeated Wellsville, 42-34 Assistant coach Kip Rush said it was a difficult fight, but that the Eagles had no reason to hang their heads. “Our boys played well,” he said “And we’ll go back to work Monday to prepare.” At the end of the first half, the Eagles trailed 20-12, but by the end of the third quarter, it was tied at 20. At the end of the fourth quarter, both teams had 28. The game went into overtime and both teams scored six. The game went into a second overtime and Osawatomie scored eight, bringing the final score to 42-34. Fred Weidner led the team with four touchdowns, one receiving and three running, and Dalton Hughes had one touchdown. Next up, Wellsville will take on Anderson County Friday at home. | |
