William Gilbert 18, Ottawa was driving a 1999 Dodge Minivan west on K-68 when he struck a 1980 Ford grain truck driven by a Cecil Frieden 79, Pomona. Gilbert was transported to RMH by Franklin Co ambulance for minor injuries. Gilbert’s vehicle was towed by Bells Wrecker to their lot.

A  56 year-old Reeds Spring, MO man, reported that a 49 year-old Pomona male, has possibly been stealing various scrap metal from property at 218 W. A St. in Pomona, the old Pomona Ready Mix property.  The Missouri estimated that approximately $5,300.00 worth of scrap metal, old concrete truck transmissions, engine blocks and rear ends is missing from the property.

Stopped a reported reckless driver (2007 Chevy Cobalt) for left of center. Driver, Kylee Wolken of Ottawa had the odor of alcohol present and subsequently failed field sobriety testing. K9 deployed on the car after marijuana seeds were seen in the seat of the car. K9 indicated on the dash of the car and marijuana was seized from the vehicle. See report.

Warrant Arrest

1200 S. Cedar, 1545 hrs, The suspect Wayland Kirkland jr. a 47-year-old Richmond KS male was arrested on a Franklin County warrant.

Keokuk & Hickory, 0025hrs. William Lute III, a 20 yr old Ottawa man, was arrested on a traffic stop for an outstanding Douglas County warrant.

Reckless Driving

236 N Main, 2346hrs. Jeremiah Nichols, a 26 yr old Ottawa man, was arrested for driving recklessly with pedestrians in the area and occupants in his vehicle. He was released on an notice to appear.

Driving While Suspended

1400 S Main, 0215hrs. Sabrina Green, an 18 yr old Ottawa woman, was arrested for driving while suspended and no insurance, after being stopped for a traffic violation.

Aggravated Battery

4th & Oak St, 0307rs. A 32 yr old Ottawa man, was seriously injured by suspects who fled the scene. Leach was transported to Overland ParkRegional Hospital for treatment. Case is under investigation.

500 S. Oak, 0800 hrs, A 36-year-old Ottawa male reported that an unknown suspect stole items.

Open Container, Alcohol Consumption in Public

100 E. 2nd, 1224 hrs, The suspect Fredrick Kramer a 68-year-old Ottawa male was arrested for open container after reports were received about an intoxicated male drinking beer at 2nd and main.     

Auto Accident

17th and Main, 1602 hrs, The suspect Nastasia Hollin a 17-year-old Ottawa female struck a car driven by Lila Edwards a 52-year-old Ottawa female.  Hollin cited with inattentive driving. 

Warrant Arrest

305 S. Main, 1713 hrs, The suspect Leann Godfrey a 21-year-old Ottawa female was arrested on 2 City of Ottawa warrants.

Vicious Animal/ Dog Bite

400 S Sycamore, 1930hrs. A 32 yr old Ottawa man, reported his son, 9 yr old, as being bitten by a dog belonging to Carly Buhs, a 27 yr old Ottawa woman. Buhs was cited for Harboring a Vicious Animal, No dog registration, and NoVaccination.

Domestic Battery/Battery/Damage to Property

1600 Osage Dr, 2300hrs. A 19 yr old Ottawa woman, reported being battered and her property being damaged by James Givens, a 22 yr old Ottawa man. An 18 yr old Ottawa woman, also reported being battered by James Givens. Givens was arrested and lodged into the Franklin Co Jail.
