| By The Herald Staff POMONA — The loss in the regular season finale Tuesday could be costly for the West Franklin High School volleyball team. The Falcons were in a tight race with Jeff North for the third seed in the 3A sub-state in Wellsville. West Franklin split with Metro Academy on senior night in Pomona. The Falcons won the first match, 25-18, 25-19. The Falcons fell in three games in the nightcap, 8-25, 25-23, 25-22. “The first match, we took care of business,” West Franklin coach Angie Corwine said. The Falcons had things going their way with a big win in the first game of the second match. “Metro fell apart in that first game,” Corwine said. “We tightened up. Our hitters made a lot of errors. It was disappointing for [the seniors]. We had a big crowd. “It was all going right or it was not.” West Franklin finished the regular season with a 24-8 mark. The sub-state pairings will be released later this week. The Vikings won the best three-of-five match, 25-5, 25-15, 25-18. Central Heights dominated in every area. The Vikings made one serving error in 72 attempts. The Vikings recorded 31 kills, 31 blocks and 15 stuff blocks. Central Heights (33-4) will be the top seed Saturday in the Wellsville sub-state.
