| By The Herald Staff WELLSVILLE — The Wellsville and West Franklin high school volleyball teams saw their seasons end Saturday in the 3A sub-state in Wellsville. West Franklin advanced to the semifinals with a first-round victory over Kansas City Christian (23-25, 25-18, 25-19). The Falcons then fell to eventual winner Central Heights (25-20, 25-18) in the semifinals. The Falcons finished 25-9 and were co-champs of the Flint Hills League with Osage City. Wellsville bowed out in the first round with a 25-22, 26-24 loss to Osage City. The Eagles finished 15-21. “Our girls gave Osage everything they could handle and then some, but Osage just had too many weapons,” Wellsville coach Eric Evans said. “I was very pleased with the toughness we displayed on Saturday, and thought we showed alot of pride, character, and confidence from start to finish. “Our season was an up-and-down one, but I am very proud of our team, from seniors to freshmen, not to mention the coaching staff here ... they represented Wellsville volleyball very well throughout the season and I’m sure will do so in the upcoming years.” Evans said the five seniors will be missed.
