Fall back: Clock is running out on daylight saving time

You know the drill.

Be on time and be safe.

This weekend is time to turn your clock back an hour for standard time. It’s fall, so fall back and set the clock to one hour earlier just before you go to bed tonight. OK, technically it’s 1 a.m. Sunday that happens twice, but, as we said, you know the drill.

You also know it’s time to think about the safety of your family as they sleep.

This weekend is time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors — and that includes the ones connected to your home’s AC power. You still need the battery backup. Just do it.

And then this particular weekend has an extra safety dimension to it.

It’s Halloween tonight and children dealing with excitement and sugar rushes will be prowling the streets.

Put a little extra effort into driving carefully.

Move slowly, look carefully and don’t go out unless you have to during prime treating hours (you should be home handing out candy, anyway).
