County department heads safe after uncontested races

Four county department heads ran uncontested in Tuesday’s election and will continue to serve their posts.

Republican Shari Perry earned 9,824 votes, securing her fourth term as the county clerk. Perry has worked in the clerk’s and appraiser’s offices for 25 years.

With 10,044 votes, Republican Debbie Hough was re-elected as the county treasurer.

This will be Hough’s third four-year term. She has worked in the treasurer’s office for 30 years.

First elected in 1992, Democrat Sue McCay will begin her fifth term as the register of deeds.

McCay was re-elected with 9,153 votes.

Republican Heather Jones received 9,427 votes, earning re-election as the county attorney.

This will be Jones’ second term.
