Nov. 6, 1959

It was 57 years ago this month, Nov. 28, 1902, that the Wellsville Girls Band was organized.

On the evening of Nov. 9, band members still living in this area will gather at the Wellsville Schools’ multipurpose room. Their appearance at the Home-Folk Talent Show, sponsored by the local PTA, will be one of the highlights of the evening’s program.

The Girls Band’s record is an admirable one.

At a time when an instrumental group comprised of all girls was virtually unheard of, the band enjoyed the distinction of attesting to the weaker sex’s ability as musicians.
