| Neosho County Community College NCCC, headquartered in Chanute, but with a branch in Ottawa, gives studentes the opportunity to take classes without leaving home. The school offers courses in allied medical health and business and technology training. Ottawa campus prides itself on helping area students hone the most marketable skills in the area, and also specialize in educating those already in the world of work seeking to learn new skills to implement in their trade. Founded in 1865 on land given by the Ottawa Indian Tribe, the Christian four-year university currently has campuses not only in Ottawa, but in Kansas City, Kans., Indiana, Wisconsin, Arizona, China, Singapore and Malaysia. Baker University Baker, a private Christian university located in Douglas County's Baldwin City, has produced four Rhodes Scholars and two Pulitzer Prize winners since opening its doors in 1858.
