| By JODIE GARCIA, Herald Staff Writer I-35 was the location for a handful of weather-related crashes Tuesday afternoon. A van driven by Clayton E. Moden, 63, Marlin, Texas, lost control on I-35 near milemarker 170 at 3:08 p.m., slid through the median and struck a truck towing a trailer, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol. The truck was driven by Ronald G. Miller, 62, Elton, La. Moden was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Two minutes later, a semitrailer driven by James C. Alexander, 37, Romeville, Ill., came upon the disabled van, tried to avoid it but slid into it, reports said. At 2:30 p.m. about one mile north of K-33, a Ford Explorer driven by Kathy G. Bigham, 51, Quenemo, crossed the median and came to rest on the east side of the highway, reports said. Bigham was taken to Ransom Memorial Hospital with possible injuries. A passenger, Amber R. Dennison, 26, Quenemo, had possible injuries but refused treatment, the report said. Another passenger, 10-year-old Dakota N. Maxwell, Quenemo, was not injured. All occupants were wearing their seat belts, the report said. | |
