Citizen Scholar: KATIE REUSCH, Ottawa High School

Active citizens promote chances to improve conditions in their communities, Katie Reusch said.

For her, that included painting houses for Habitat for Humanity.

“It’s fulfilling to know that you are improving the living conditions for someone in need,” she said.

She has been involved in many activities at school like National Honor Society, SADD, Pep Club, KAY Club, student council, Renaissance, yearbook, volleyball, tennis manager and cheerleading. She has received several academic honors.

She has volunteered with blood drives, food drives, community clean-up efforts, Battle of the Bands, Senior Citizen Prom and more.

She plans to attend Kansas State University, majoring in mass communication.

She is the daughter of Bob and Liz Reusch.
