MICHAEL ‘MICK’ JONES

Michael  “Mick” Jones, 52, Ottawa, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Wellsville Manor Care Center, Wellsville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.

He was born Aug. 23, 1957, in Garnett to Richard D. Jones Sr. and Bettye Jean (McDaniel) Jones.

He grew up in Williamsburg before moving to Ottawa.

He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1975 and attended Auto Technical Training in Topeka.

He worked at Ottawa Ford in the late 1970s doing auto mechanics, carpentry and maintenance. He then worked at the Bea Martin Peck Animal Shelter, Ottawa, in the 1980s and Taylor Brothers Construction, Ottawa, from 1991 to 1997.

He married Christina Ingels Feb. 1, 1991, in Ottawa. She survives of the home.

Survivors also include his father, Richard Jones Sr., and his wife, Sharon, Ottawa; daughter, Lisa Thurston, and her husband, Danny, Fort Scott; sons, Shawn Jones, of the home, and Christopher Hancock, Overland Park; brother, Richard D. Jones Jr., and his wife, Carol, Williamsburg; stepsisters, Tina Madison, and her husband, Stanley, Ottawa, and Sandy Thornburg, Warsaw, Mo.; stepbrother, Lee Gregg, and his wife, Kim, Ottawa; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bettye Jean (McDaniel) Jones; and a sister, Linda Gilbertson.

Cremation is planned.
